One dark gloomy day there was an debate over a volcano.
“I demand I get Whakaari.” demanded Mahuika goddess of fire.
Mahuika is lava red with brown eyes who has a bad temper.
“Why, you would only threaten the people into doing what you want.” Shouted Tangaroa god of the sea. Tangaroa has a kind soul. He is blue with baby blue eyes and has tribal markings on him. “Settle down you two or I send you to the naughty corner.” Yelled Ranginui god of all gods and the sky. As the day passed on Mahuika kept demanding that Whakaari was to be hers. Till finally Tangaroa had enough. He Jumped into the sea and said to Mahuika. “If you want Whakaari come get it.” Threatened Tangaroa as he swam away. Mahuika Flue over to Whakaari with the biggest grin on her face saying to But as she arrived Tangaroa had a surprise for her.

Tangaroa’s children surrounded Whakaari as he stood proud waiting for Mahuika to land.  Tangaroa striked out with rage cutting Mahuika face with his Trident. She Flared up red with anger looking like the sun on a summers day. Things got real and out of hand really fast causing each one to hurt each other. It was becoming dusk and this is the time when Mahuika was at her best burning Tangaroa and throwing him around like a rag doll. Finally and the sun had gone down and it was time for Tangaroa. He turned into the biggest meanest thing you would ever see It was a gigantic water Lion that was as blue as a summer sky. But before he could hit Mahuika this happened…….

Ranginui stomp his foot. Bouf, he had heard about this and arrived just in time and broke up the fight before things got worse. He yelled at the top of his voice. “STOP!.” They listened and calmed down. Ranginui suggested they came up with a peaceful solution. So they made a treaty saying Tangaroa is the barrier protector of Whakaari and Mahuika protects the land of Whakaari.

Seven years have passed and they have had no arguments. It has been peaceful no trespassers and no fights until…….
